Salisbury City Council is delighted to report that it has successfully applied for, and been awarded a grant by Scottish and Southern Electric (SSE) to purchase equipment to help the city prepare for any future flooding events.
The bid, for £18,625 was made by the Salisbury Operational Flood Working Group as part of the development of the Salisbury Flood Plan. The money will allow the City Council to purchase a number of items to assist with any flooding incident, as well as a further number of gel sacs to help with properties which may be at risk. It will also help with the training of Salisbury's Flood Wardens.
Reg Williams, City Clerk at Salisbury City Council said 'I am delighted that we have received everything we asked for in our bid to Scottish and Southern Electric'.
Cllr Richard Clewer, Salisbury Flood Co-ordinator said, “With this support from SSE we will be able to purchase equipment that will make our response to any future flooding event much more effective, it is great news.”
