Salisbury and District Chamber of Commerce & Industry Schools Volunteer Database

A good number of members from the business community in and around Salisbury are already involved with local schools, whether as school governors, offering work experience placements, attending careers events and much more.

However, the process of linking up and matching schools’ requirements can be very ad hoc and often take up a lot of time both for schools and business. In addition, opportunities can be missed to present positive role models and business input right across the curriculum.

The Chamber is therefore setting up a Volunteer Database in order to make such links quicker, more effective and to widen the pool of business expertise available.

Information will be held by the chamber and it will be:

  • A list of individuals and/or companies willing to volunteer
  • The industry sectors involved
  • Specific areas of interest and expertise
  • Relevant contact details

The database can be used in two ways:

  • The Chamber can approach a school with details of an individual – with permission – they believe can help and support the school in some way.
  • Schools can approach and appointed contact within in the Chamber with a request. The Chamber will then look through the database and aim to find a match if possible. They will then contact the person and ask if they are willing to be approached by the school. *

*Where schools have continuing links with companies or individual, they would approach then directly.

All you need to do is let the office know you and or your business is interested in helping email
