Salisbury Cathedral’s draft Master Plan generated significant interest and feedback

The consultation on Salisbury Cathedral’s draft Master Plan generated significant interest and feedback.  Since the start of 2016 we have been collating all of the responses we received and I am pleased to now be able to share with you, and other respondents, a short summary of responses which I hope you will find informative.

As you will see the most popular propositions were increased access to the Cathedral’s library and archives and  the development of the Works Yard to make it more accessible to visitors interested in heritage skills. Both were strongly supported.

Acknowledging the strength of feeling regarding future uses of the Bishop’s Palace, Chapter has already given a clear assurance to the Cathedral School Governors that it has no plans to change the school’s occupation of that building.  Other feedback will be drawn upon in the course of formulating a revised Master Plan, which is expected to be submitted to Wiltshire Council later this Summer.

The consultation process proved an interesting and fruitful exercise and we are grateful for each and every contribution. If you wish to read the full Feedback Summary document it can be found on the Cathedral’s website: www.bit.ly/master-plan
